The Birmingham USTA 18 & Over 3.5 women won the 2013 USTA Southern Sectional Championships and will be advancing to the national championships! The team is comprised of the following players:

Our Men's 2.5 ''Ravens'' Won the Southern Sectionals and will go to Palm Spring, CA, the weekend of October 3-6 to represent Pelham and the South at the Nationals!!!!

Birmingham Fall Weeknight Prep League |
Registration is open for the Birmingham fall women's weeknight prep league with the initial team registration deadline being August 28th. The maximum number of players per team is 16.
The levels offered are 2.5 through 4.5. The 2.5 level will play one singles and two doubles while levels 3.0 through 4.5 will play two singles and three doubles. All will play a match tiebreak in lieu of a third set. Levels 2.5 through 4.0 will play on Tuesday night and 4.5 will play on Wednesday if court availability is not an issue. All matches will be scheduled for 6:30 pm.
None of the matches count towards a player's NTRP rating as this league is scheduled to give the players an opportunity to play much the same as women's weekday softcourt and doubles only league. There is no advancement to a flight or a state championship!

Birmingham Fall USTA Women's 40 and Over League |
Registration opens on TennisLink August 8th for the Birmingham adult 40 & over fall league! The initial team registration deadline is August 25th. The maximum number of players per team is sixteen with the team format being 2 singles and 3 doubles playing a match tiebreak in lieu of a third set.
The weekday (9:30 am) play opportunities are as follows:
3.0 - Friday
3.5 - Friday
4.0 - Friday
4.5+ - Monday
The weeknight (6:30 pm) play opportunities are as follows:
3.0
3.5
4.0
4.5+
The 3.0 through 4.0 weeknight matches will be scheduled on Monday evenings and the 4.5+ will be scheduled for Tuesday's if court availability is not an issue.
A flight playoff will be scheduled to determine the city champion and to determine which teams will be eligible to advance to the 2014 Alabama 40 & Over Championships.

Birmingham Fall Mixed Doubles Registration |
Registration will open on TennisLink August 8th for the fall Birmingham mixed 18 & Over and the mixed 40 & over leagues. The initial team registration deadline is August 29th. All interested captains should contact Ruth Anne Bendall at rbendall7@gmail.com to discuss playdays!
Levels offered for mixed 18 & over are 2.5, 6.0, 7.0, 8.0 and 9.0. Levels offered for mixed 40 & over are 6.0, 7.0, 8.0 and 9.0. Effective with the 2014 championship year, mixed 40 & over will be considered a part of the national program!
In the past mixed 18 & over and mixed 40 & over have played on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 pm. There could be some change to the playdays depending upon the feedback from past captains.
The maximum number of players per team is 14 with the format being three courts of doubles per match. In the past, the mixed 18 & have played the best two of three sets while the mixed 40 & played a match tiebreak in lieu of a third set. A survey will be sent to the 2013 captains asking for their feedback for 2014.

2013 Trussville YMCA Adult Summer Tennis Challenge |
The 2013 Trussville YMCA Adult Summer Tennis Challenge will take place August 9th through 11th. Divisions will be men's doubles, women's doubles and mixed doubles. Entry fee is $20 per person for YMCA members and $25 per person for non-YMCA members. Teams will play a minimum of two matches. Greystone YMCA Junior Tennis Program |
1. Junior play day. Play matches with players your own skill level. Weeks of August 5th and August 12th. Mon-thur from 10am-1pm. Cost is $20. Pizza provided.
2. After school program for juniors. Mon/we'd beginners from 4pm-5pm. Tues/thurs intermediate and advanced from 430-6pm. Cost is $15 per session.

Flex League Registration Opens August 16th |
Play tennis on your schedule! Flex league registration opens August 16th. The season will run October 7th to December 29th. This league is perfect for people who can't commit to a specific time to play each week as well as those who want extra practice. 2013 Alabama USTA 65 & Over Invitational Championship |
The 2013 Alabama USTA 65 & Over Invitational Championship will be hosted by Huntsville, AL October 10-13. All teams must be registered on TennisLink no later than September 1 with their initial six players. The maximum number of players per team is fourteen. The roster addition deadline on TennisLink is September 10th.
Levels offered are 3.0, 3.5, 4.0 and 9.0 combined for men and women. The format of play is three doubles per match playing a match tiebreak in lieu of a third set. The winning team from this championship advances to the 2013 USTA Southern Sectional Championships hosted by Columbus, GA December 6-8.

Learning Excellence Through Tennis Progam |
The Learning Excellence Through Tennis (LETT) program is seeking paid tennis instructors for its beginner level youth programs. Training is provided.
LETT provides reasonably priced youth tennis lessons through its "Excellence Program" at West Homewood Park. Scholarships are available.
