Rusty Wilkes Wins USPTA Southern Assistant Pro of the Year Award |
Rusty Wilkes has just been awarded the USPTA Southern Assistant Tennis Pro of the Year for 2013! Men's Tri-Level Registration Initial Deadline May 7th |
Tri-Level Registration is now open for the 18+ men and the 40+ men on TennisLink! Teams will have until May 7th to get the minimum number of players registered (six). As always, home captains will get to choose when they want to have their home matches (according to court availability at their home facility).
The USTA Tri-Level doubles league allows 3 different levels of doubles play for each match. There are two different levels for the 18&over and the 40&over: 3.0/3.5/4.0 and 3.5/4.0/4.5.
So, for the 3.0/3.5/4.0 level, each match would consist of 3 doubles courts, one 3.0 doubles court, one 3.5 doubles court, and one 4.0 doubles court. Players can play up one or two levels meaning that a 3.0 would be eligible to play on the 4.0 doubles court. Therefore, most teams have more lower level players since they can sub up if needed.
If you have any questions, please contact Ken Vines, USTA B'ham Men's Local League Coordinator

Host Families Sought for Exchange Students with Interest in Tennis |
Host an international high school exchange student for a semester or academic school year with international Experience-USA www.ie-usa.com.
International Experience USA (iE-USA) is a non-profit educational exchange organization that supports high school students from around the world wishing to attend a US high school and live with an American host family for a semester or academic school year. We have a number of students from Germany, Montenegro, Spain, Thailand and Finland this year with a special interest in tennis, as well as many other activities, and hope you or someone you might know might be interested in hosting one of our great kids!
We are looking for wonderful hosts (traditional families, singles, empty-nesters, etc.) who would like to share their homes and hearts with these bright students. Visiting students are expected to participate as active members of the family and integrate into their host's routines, traditions and rules just like any other family member. Hosting an international student is a great way to open your family's eyes to the world, and promote a sense of lifelong learning and adventure.
Our students carry their own insurance and spending money for all other expenses (personal items, travel expenses, gifts, school and sports expenses, etc.) Our local iE representatives are ready to work with you personally and will help identify a student that will be a great match with your family.
For more information please give us a call at 888-266-2921 or visit our website www.ie-usa.com to learn more about our student applicants.

Jovan, Montenegro, M (17) At the age of ten I started playing tennis and since then I practice it every day .Tennis is my true love and I would love more than anything to continue playing tennis in the States. I took part in many tennis tournaments in Montenegro and in some neighboring countries. I am super excited and feel this experience will be an outstanding one that we nor I will ever forget.
Chanon, Thailand, M (15) My favorite hobbies are playing tennis, watching movies and reading books. I like to learn new things and explore new ideas. Showing people about the Thai culture will be fun for me. I hope to make more life long friends while I am in the US.
